Changing the Face of a Large Retail Outlet in Bundall
In this blog, we delve into the captivating transformation of a former Masters hardware outlet into a Home Consortium Bulky Goods Retail store. Discover how Aluminium Balustrades and Tomkins collaborated to breathe new life into the building, with our expertise taking centre stage in the mesmerising overhaul of the facade.
The Project
The project, located in Bundall, involved taking the existing 12 122 m2 and carrying out a complete redesign, with construction on the base build and services works. This also included the creation of six additional tenants inside the original building.
While Tomkins was able to carry out things like base build hydraulic services and new electrical distribution works for the new tenancies, the infilling of the roof and walls of the Masters hardware store’s garden centre, and the epoxy resurfacing of all of the existing flooring, they needed someone they could trust to take care of the building’s most obvious and visually striking aspect: the facade.
Our Work
While Tomkins upgraded the structural and functional aspects of the project, they needed someone they could rely on to create a new outside screen that would completely overhaul the look of the building. This was an important part of the project because it would be the one aspect of the building that would be seen by all. It would also be one of the factors influencing how people perceived and judged the quality of the redesign.
This meant that the standard of our work was going to be a reflection not only of the Home Consortium Bulky Goods Retail brand but also of Tomkins as well. So we had a big responsibility on our shoulders.
Our work involved the manufacturing and installation of a large feature screen that covered the exterior of the building. According to the design drawings provided by the client, the screen facade had to be done in powder coat orange and made of 100 mm x 50 mm x 3mm angle aluminium to give it a sleek, modern look in keeping with the new owners’ branding.
This resulted in a quick and affordable way to change the facade of a building that everyone was more than happy with.
The powder coating was done through our in-house Southport Powder Coating company, which has 30 years of experience in the business. Needless to say, the job was carried out tremendously and resulted in a facade that reflected well on Tomkins and its clients.
