Timber look aluminium – a feature at Bond University
We are pleased to present yet another high-quality project recently completed at Bond University, Gold Coast. This project involved multiple areas utilising a range of materials and products including timber-look aluminium Forest Alloy, The Solaire Louvre system, and the Infinity Suite balustrade rails and glass with a C3 loading (crowd loading). Aluminium Balustrade worked alongside BDA Architecture in providing the design and installation in the alfresco areas, internal courtyards, and staircases for this project.
Project Overview:
Contractor: ADCO
Project: Bond University HS & M Building
Scope of Work: Balustrade, Screens and Louvres
Architect: BDA Architecture
Timber-look Aluminium FOREST ALLOY – Casuarina Colour
Installation of the timber-look aluminium product Forest Alloy was performed in the internal courtyards and alfresco areas on campus. This enhances the area with the natural beauty of timber combined with the durability of aluminium, creating a stylish atmosphere with warmth. The product is not only sustainable and lightweight but is also able to withstand environmental conditions, resist termite attack, and longer lasting than traditional timber, require little to no maintenance.
The SOLAIRE Louvre System
The Solaire product was installed by Aluminium Balustrade to provide a unique architectural louvre design with external solar control solutions. With a balance of aesthetics, form and function, this robust louvre system applied with warranty powder coating is able to withstand the harsh Australian external conditions and will not rust, rot, or crack.
Made from 100% recyclable aluminium, this installation meets the solar D8 requirements and reduces sunlight and heat transfer with vertical blade placement suited to shadow direction on the building surface. Hidden brackets were designed and fabricated with our latest in-house installation of the Flow Mach 2b Waterjet Cutter system.
The INFINITY SUITE
The Infinity Suite incorporates the most upmarket designs of today and are architecturally pleasing. This design is a variation which included stainless steel fittings, stainless steel rails, and support glass. Meeting the safety requirement of a C3 loading (crowd loading), this installation supports and maintains crowd loaded areas with structural glass where in the case of a panel breaking, will stay in place. The Infinity Suite is installed at the staircase of the internal courtyard which involved an internal and external application. The complex fixing to the steel framework to achieve the C3 loading required extensive engineering and design to deliver on the design intent and meeting certification.
